Tom Andrich: "The occupant at the time was Sandy's Restaurant. They wanted the wall repainted, the previous mural on the wall (see photo 2) had a motorcycle on it and was considered too 'bikeish' and they wanted something that didn't evoke anything negative or threatening."

"I thought of doing something that pertained directly to the history of that area. I began to look for things pertaining to St. John's Park. They used to have a bandstand in there; I remember it as a kid. So I figured that would be a family kind of thing. The other idea I had is there used to be a kids' wading pool too. I found a picture of the wading pool from the 1920s and I was going to use that until I found a beautiful postcard of St. John's Park that included the bandstand. It became the basis for the Mural; it had everything I wanted, the walkway women with their parasols."
