Each year, we lose some good outdoor art in Winnipeg. For the year indicated, here's a last look at, a last goodbye to some of the artwork that has disappeared that year.

The artwork for the Manitoba Canoe and Kayak Center was rendered by Chris Velasco in 2003. This river facing wall was painted over first in about 2015; but the artwork in photo 2 (west wall) remained- but within 2 years large wire cages were built here to house racks of canoes and kayaks which obscured the artwork. By 2018 the artwork had essentially disappeared.
Original notes follow:

Chris Velasco: "I liked working on it and actually quite happy with that one. I used a spray gun for pretty much the whole wall. It's fairly rough stucco though, and it sucked up a lot of paint. The client wanted a scene that goes along with what they do there seasonally; the whole cross-country skiing scene, recreational canoeing, kayaking and Dragon boat events and to advertise their Team Manitoba. It's a recreational look and done in a line art style and I used a lot of bright colours to bring the building out. And it looks really good from across the river from Lyndale. The clients have been very good and flexible. They had a real graffiti problem there before the Mural."
